Beginner Course - Introduction to Swahili
The course runs for 10 weeks, 2 hour sessions once per week or 5 weeks for 2 hour sessions twice per week sessions and costs just 300 Euro. The fees are payable by cash or cheque posted to the institute, or given at the start of the first class at the Carmelite Community Centre or 4 Lower Abbey Street Centre.
The beginner's course is aimed at anyone who does not have any Swahili and those who have little knowledge of the language. The course teaches basic things in Swahili such as greetings and self introduction, and expression in everyday life e.g. asking for directions, purchasing things at market and grocery , getting services at bank, at post office, in hospital and making telephone calls etc. On completing this level satisfactorily, a student can conduct day to day simple conversations in Swahili.
The beginner's classes are once or twice per week running for 2 hours each session. You can choose to attend 6-8 pm or 7-9 pm classes in any working day of the week of your choice (Monday to Friday). If you would also like to attend weekend classes, we have a Saturday session, which is a 3 hour class, with a break in between). If you cannot attend evening and weekend classes we can arrange for morning or afternoon sessions. Please let us know if you need this option. Also the institute can arrange for private one person or group classes at our premises or your premises. For those outside Dublin, if there is a group of you, our teachers can come over to your area to provide you with Swahili classes.
